NURSE NAVIGATORAll About Life Women’s Centers partner with The Nurse Navigator Program “Why Navigate Cancer Alone?” With a diagnosis of cancer, the patient begins a journey involving various tests and treatments coupled with dealing with healthcare professionals from different specialties, all of whom use a language that defies even the most educated man-on-the-street. And so, enters the Nurse Navigator…a specially-trained registered nurse who becomes the patient’s advocate, educator, care coordinator and special friend dedicated to improving the cancer experience from diagnosis to recovery. “Receiving a diagnosis of cancer is a life-altering, daunting experience. Patients become overwhelmed, and don’t know where to turn next,” says Ronda Rogers, R.N., CBPN-IC, from the All About Life Women’s Centers. A cancer diagnosis is a devastating experience and with that diagnosis you may feel overwhelmed with questions, fears and worries. To answer these questions, you have a number of resources - your doctors, patients and survivors, online resources and now a Nurse Navigator can be by your side – an ally for your health and recovery. A Nurse Navigator is a specialty trained registered nurse who becomes your advocate, care coordinator and often becomes a supportive friend. Your care and your future are the top priority. Your Nurse Navigator can assess reproductive status and help preserve fertility prior to treatment. Fertility options include oocyte freezing, IVF - embryos freezing and sperm freezing/banking.
